Laura Neese went off trail

I’m not really sure. Yeah we ended up on the wrong trail - ended up with an extra 5-6 miles. - Laura Neese

The promising young musher Laura Neese also had to take her team out of the race after getting to Trail Central.

Erin Letzring is the first to leave Trail Center up to Kings road turnaround. Sarah Keefer is in close pursuit.

Ryan Redington leaves the checkpoint, but he is fragile. According to race rules, six dogs is the minimum one can have to participate in the race.  About 10 minutes after leaving the Trail Center checkpoint, Redington returned to the checkpoint and withdrew from the race. He stated that it was the best decision for his dogs and that they will be back stronger next year.

How will this end?

Into the night the regning champion Erin Letzring, the rookie Wade Marrs and The 3-time former champion Ryan Anderson are forming a leadpack on their way towards Skyport.

Erin Letzring was in to the 5th checkpoint first, followed by Ryan Anderson, Wade Marrs then Sarah Keefer. In a huge turn of events Erin scratched after pulling in to Skyport.

Time will tell what happens to the leaders.
